Ever had a ghostly experience?
Halloween is coming and it’s time to get out the spooky movies and enjoy a good scare in the safety of our living rooms. But have you ever seen or heard a ghost in real life? Have you ever gotten goosebumps for no apparent reason when you’re alone? Was there a “haunted house” in your town when you were growing up? Tell us your creepy or unexplainable story and let us share your shivers!

I think I would love to see a ghost, as long as I wasn’t alone and didn’t have to live with it. I never have seen one, but I think I felt one once. I was in an older, Spanish-style house that I’d never been in before. It was a party for a friend of mine, and I didn’t know the hostess. The living room was warm and cozy and filled with happy people having a good time. I went just around the corner to the bathroom, which was only about 10 feet from where the party was going on, and when I came out I looked casually to my right down the hallway toward the bedroom. I got a very, very distinct feeling of something “bad” down that hallway. I told my friend about it later, and she said the woman who lives there (the party hostess) was certain the bedroom was haunted. She had been awakened one night by the feeling of a hand touching her arm and there was nobody there. Now, it was a beautiful house but you couldn’t PAY me to stay there after I heard that.

I absolutely believe in ghosts, but I have never had a real close encounter. I have had dreams in which I have been visited by loved ones who have died, and they seemed pretty real. I also had a weird experience recently when my companion and I were traveling through a small, rural town and happened on an antique store that was celebrating its “grand opening” in a little old house. I got all the way to the front steps and suddenly just balked. It felt like something was just terribly wrong with the house, and I did not want to go in. I eventually relented, but the bad feelings increased as I walked through the house, particularly in the old kitchen. I got out as soon as I could and don’t want to ever go back again. I suppose if I researched the house I would find nothing out of the ordinary, but in my heart I KNOW bad things happened there!

On second thaught I have to admit that when I was at Plattsburg barracks and on gaurd duty I was invariably assigned the southen post which meant that I had to pass the cemetary and I would pass it very slowly even tho it was creepy and several of the men would run past it and I told them that the reason I passed it slowly is that I only had to pass it once and they had to pass it two or three times.
