My funny Valentine
The day of hearts and flowers is fast approaching, which always turns me (temporarily) into a sentimental slob. Today’s question: If you could receive a Valentine from anyone at all, living or dead, real or fictional, someone from your past or your present, or even a complete stranger to you, who would your Valentine be from?

I would like to get a Valentine from President Bartlett (from the West Wing). He was the sexiest fictional president ever. (Although he would never cheat on Mrs. Bartlett, drat the luck.)

I would like to get a Valentine from my ex-boyfriend, saying that I was the best thing that ever happened to him and his life is meaningless since I’ve been gone. Then I would laugh and laugh and laugh as I ripped it into tiny pieces. Then I would go see my current frequent companion who would never send me a Valentine but is much smarter and more fun than my ex.

My idea of a wonderful, unbelievable and thrilling beyond all measure is a Valentine from my husband. He has been deceased for 18 years this Feb. I miss him constantly. A big box of chocolate wouldn’t hurt either!

I think it would be too hard to receive a Valentine from someone deceased who I love, I think it would be too bittersweet for sappy, over emotional me.
I would not, however, mind receiving a Valentine from Jason Mraz! Or Edward from the Twilight Series. Or even James Roday from the TV Show Psych.
I suppose realistic ones will have to do this year.

My answer is sort of like Elizabeth’s–I would like to get a valentine from my older brother, who has also been dead 18 years (coincidentally). It would be exremely emotional and would certainly make me weep, but what an amazing thing to be able to have some kind of contact with him after missing him for so long.

At 88 next april I don’t dare say anything here as I think Charlotte woud clobber me (yes she’s jealous) and that’s why I love her.
