sidorskiMay 19, 2009 at 06:31AMDear Webduck, Yes there were tubes for sale in stores like drug stores and they even had tube testers along side of the tube displays so you could check your own tubes, by the way tubes were called valves in England.
webduckFebruary 22, 2009 at 06:08PMI'm going to show my age here...I remember when we used to go to the local supermarket and they would have a display of radio and TV tubes.
sidorskiJanuary 28, 2008 at 04:49PMIt's the printed circuit boards and solid state devices (transistors) and flat screens that doomed the tv repair industries, I can still repair them but I don't as retirement has made me lazy, also it is very hard to get parts and pretty soon you wont see picture tubes any more.
kaforemanJanuary 28, 2008 at 03:52PMYou don't see too many TV repair places nowadays. Maybe the technology is too delicate to be fixed when it breaks down.
sidorskiNovember 04, 2007 at 09:37AMAt least one man did because I was shopping with my wife and the man with the dark hair, sedond frome the left in the back row came up to me and said "thank you for teaching me how to repair TV's because it's the most money I ever made" so that made me proud.
RebekajNovember 03, 2007 at 06:04PMA fine looking group of students. Hope some of them made it in the t.v. repair game!
